Peter Durlach is Chief Strategy Officer at Zelis and a member of the Zelis Operating Committee. In this role, he leads the company’s enterprise-wide strategy and innovation function, focused on accelerating long-term growth, advancing AI-driven capabilities, and strengthening cross-functional alignment to expand the value Zelis delivers to clients and partners.
Peter brings more than three decades of leadership experience at the intersection of healthcare, artificial intelligence, and enterprise software. He has a proven track record of building and scaling technology-driven healthcare businesses from early-stage innovation to enterprise growth.
Prior to joining Zelis, Peter served as Corporate Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Health & Life Sciences at Microsoft, where he was responsible for advancing the company’s strategic direction and portfolio across the healthcare industry, integrating capabilities from Microsoft and Nuance Communications.
Previously, he was Chief Strategy Officer at Nuance Communications, where he led enterprise strategy and innovation initiatives, including the development of AI-powered solutions in areas such as virtual assistants, ambient computing, imaging AI, and patient engagement. During his tenure, he helped grow Nuance’s healthcare business from early-stage revenue to approximately $1 billion, driving significant expansion in clinical documentation, imaging, revenue cycle, and compliance solutions.
Earlier in his career, Peter held senior leadership roles spanning strategy, product management, marketing, and business development across multiple healthcare technology organizations, consistently guiding companies through growth, transformation, and strategic scaling.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Vermont, where he graduated summa cum laude and first in his business class, earning the Wall Street Journal Award for Academic Excellence.
